The charity behind the regeneration of the Bathing Pools has received a £10,000 boost after a statue was sold at auction with the funds going to Vive La Vallette.
The sold piece, ‘Stealth, 2021’ is made of stainless steel and measures 300cm x 120cm.
It’s described as a significant example of Ivan Black’s work, a British artist known internationally for his kinetic sculptures, which look to blend engineering and artistry.
His creations often feature repeating elements and complex, fluid structures, that are inspired by natural forms and mathematical principles.
Martel Maides, who held the auction earlier this week, said Mr Black’s work is often appreciated for its minimalist design, which allows the intricate movement of the sculptures to be the focal point.
Helen Bonner-Morgan, Operations Director of Vive La Vallette said: “We’re extremely grateful for the generous donation and delighted the piece has a new owner.
“Vive La Vallette will use the funds to continue developing this much-loved community venue and to ensure it remains relevant and well-used.”
