Colin Falla and Nigel Clarke have been recognised with the Guild of Horticulture Judges Achievement Award – described as a “testimony” to their skills.
The pair work at Southbrook Nurseries and Queux Patio respectively.
Royal Horticultural Society judge Rae Beckwith presented the award as part of the Floral Guernsey in Bloom Competition.
Floral Guernsey says the accolade is a huge endorsement of the pair and the island’s horticultural heritage.
The Guild was founded in 1993 to officiate at flower shows and other horticultural events, and to offer practical advice on growing.
“Being invited to Judge the Floral Guernsey in Bloom Competition has been a huge honour and this year it gave me great pleasure to award to both Colin Falla and Nigel Clark the Guild of Horticulture Judges Achievement Award,” Mr Beckwith said.
“The award is only made to those growers and showers who are held in high regard and in Nigel and Colin the island has two such people.
“There have only been six recipients of the award this year at major events and for two of those six to live and work on Guernsey is testimony to the skill base on the island.
“The plant quality and impact of their displays is always stunning and is testimony of their horticultural skills.”
Mr Falla accepted the award at a ceremony at Les Cotils, but Mr Clarke was unable to attend.
