Charities and non-profit organisations can now apply for funding to help cover their running costs and staff salaries, or long-term project expenses.

The grants – worth at least £15,000 – will be paid out by the Social Investment Fund which has given away more than one million pounds a year on average since it was launched in 2021.

That money has been paid out to a range of organisations covering community support, health and wellbeing, conservation, the arts, young people, and disability.

So far in 2025 alone, major grants recipients have included Headway Guernsey, Guernsey Chest & Heart LBG, Carers Guernsey, and the Bailiwick of Guernsey Scout Association.

They received grants of between £25,000 for rewiring facilities and £150,000 to cover core running costs.

Tim Barker, Chair of the Social Investment Fund, said most major grants cover the cost of running key services or developing new services that the community needs.

“If your charity needs funding to develop or continue valuable services which benefit our community, we encourage you to get in touch to discuss your funding needs and explain why your services are needed by the community,” he said. “Major grants are a valuable source of income for many charities, especially in this challenging economic climate when we know that many charities are struggling to find the financial support which they need.”

The money paid out by the SIF comes from public and privately donated funds, including the Guernsey net proceeds of the Channel Islands Lottery and the Guernsey Probate Registry. The SIF also receives a percentage of all seized assets proceeds to apply for community investment.

Grant applicants must be able to demonstrate the impact that their proposed activity will achieve.
