There’s just four weeks left to apply for any charitable organisations wanting to cash in on grants from the Social Investment Fund.

The foundation’s currently accepting applications for the 2026 Major Grants Programme, with £1.34 million available for the third sector.

The deadline for applications is midday on Friday 15 May, with interested organisations needing to meet with SIF to discuss their project prior to submitting an application.

Applications must be for amounts exceeding £15,000.

The grant programme is open to registered charities and non-profit organisations operating for the benefit of people in the Bailiwick.

Funding can be applied to core running costs and salaries, capital costs and multi-year projects, and towards services or activities planned for 2026 or 2027 onwards.

To be successful, the SIF said projects must help people or the community in a tangible way, such as supporting vulnerable people or those with specific needs, encourage educational, training, or employment opportunities, or focus on environmental, cultural, or heritage protection.

SIF says the projects can also focus on health and wellbeing improvements, and reducing barriers to inclusion and discrimination.

Recent recipients have included Guernsey Chest & Heart LBG, which was awarded £150,000 to help cover three years of its core running costs.

St Anne’s Pre-School Playgroup in Alderney received £16,038 towards the first phase of its development project, to enable the organisation to extend its service to include care for babies.

Independence was awarded £46,524 towards the costs and continued professional development of providing a service for at risk and problem gamblers, their families and affected others for three years.

Steve Sharman, Chair of the Social Investment Fund, said: “SIF is pleased to be able to support the charity sector through the Major Grants Programme in 2026. With £1.34 million available, we welcome applications from charities and NPOs of all sizes and from across the Bailiwick.

“By considering applications together in one round this year, we aim to ensure our funding is directed where it can make the greatest difference to the community.”

You can find out more about the programme, and make an application for this year’s round of funding through the SIF website.
