This weekend will see a number of events where voters can meet election candidates, ahead of more over the coming week.
They include two speed dating style ‘Meet the Candidate’ events, and a number of hustings organised by Forward Guernsey, independent candidates, and the BBC.
There are events organised by churches, a ‘deputy dip & dine’, chats at family friendly locations and more.
The next run of candidate events start tonight – with a cocktail bar based ‘meet and greet’, with more events from tomorrow morning.

Friday 30 May 16:00- 18:30 at Mojito: New candidate Tom Moore is offering “political discourse with a splash of fresh ideas and common sense” after work on Friday afternoon.
Saturday 31 May 09:30 at the Bathing Pools & Friday 6 June at The Rockmount: Deputy Andy Cameron is organising a Dip & Dine event with bacon butties and a chat on Saturday morning before a meet-up in “a pub with no pressure, no microphone and no agenda” next Friday.

Saturday 31 May 10:30 – 16:00 at Guille Alles Library: Discuss ‘A Fairer Guernsey’ in the library’s Dorey Room, organised by new candidate Jayne Ozanne and Deputy Charles Parkinson
Saturday 31 May, Sunday 1 June, Tuesday 10 June at St Peter Port Constables Office: Candidates tbc with three hustings planned for the Town Constables office over three separate sessions.

Saturday 31 May 13:00 – 17:00 at Le Friquet Garden Centre: Organised by independent candidate Rob Curgenven, “many of the 82 election candidates” are expected to attend in this family friendly environment.

Tuesday 3 June 19:00- 21:00 (doors open 18:30) at Fermain Tavern: Organised by new Candidate Haley Camp, she said on her social post that independent candidates were interested in meeting in an informal environment and asked the public to “pop in and ask whatever’s on your mind”.
Candidates expected to attend include: Haley Camp, Heidi Almonte, Jayne Ozanne, Jennifer Strachan, and Dr Andy Sloan with more to be confirmed.

GST – is it inevitable? What are the alternatives? Wednesday 4 June starting from 19:00 at Vale Douzaine Room: A public meeting to discuss the future of taxation in Guernsey — and whether a Goods and Services Tax (GST) is truly inevitable.
Titled “GST – Is it Inevitable? What Are the Alternatives?”, the meeting will bring together a panel of current Deputies and new candidates to share a range of views on one of the most pressing and divisive issues currently facing the island.
Chaired by Lance Vaudin. Members of the public are warmly invited to attend, listen to the discussion, ask questions, and contribute their views.
“This is a chance for islanders to engage directly with those who shape policy,” said Chris Le Tissier, organiser of the event. “Whatever your position on GST — for, against, or undecided — this is a vital conversation for Guernsey’s future.”
Vale Hustings Thursday 5 June 19:00 – 21:00 (request to arrive by 18:45) at Vale Douzaine Room: A number of independent candidates including new candidate Andrew Niles and sitting deputies will be questioned by the audience.

Island Churches hustings Friday 6 June 19:00 – 21:00 at Spurgeon Baptist Church: A number of candidates will be questioned by the audience at an event hosted by Island Churches.
Meet the Candidates Saturday and Sunday 7 & 8 June, 10:00 – 16:00 at Beau Sejour: Organised by the States of Guernsey, all candidates have been invited to attend this informal opportunity to meet voters.
