A man who sent menacing messages to a woman and threatened to set fire to her house has been remanded in custody for continuing to contact her.

John Gouveia Carvalho (40) had admitted sending the threatening messages when he last appeared in the Magistrate’s Court.

They had included a photograph of her inside her home, taken from the back garden at night.

Another said: “What do you want me to do? Burn the house down?”

Pictured: Carvalho is due to be sentenced in the Magistrate’s Court on 4 July.

He had been granted bail on condition that he did not contact the woman again. But Advocate Katie Ridley, prosecuting, said he had contacted her several times since.

Carvalho did not ask for his bail to be renewed and he was remanded in custody to appear in the Magistrate’s Court for sentencing on 4 July.
