The nature of the incident remains shrouded in mystery as officers continue to investigate what happened.
A spokesperson for Guernsey Police said on Sunday:
“Police were called at 04:30 on Saturday 1 June to an incident in Braye Road.
“Seven people have been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.”
It had previously been announced at 06:03 on Saturday morning that officers were “dealing with an incident in the north of the island” and that the Route Militaire/Braye Road junction, Oatlands traffic light junction and the Braye Du Valle between those junctions had been closed as a result.
By 09:44 Guernsey Police had reopened those roads but did not explain what the incident was.
In a statement given in response to questions raised by Express on Saturday afternoon, a spokesperson for Guernsey Police said:
“During the course of an investigation at a private address on Braye Road, there was a need to close the road in order to carry out a search of the roadway.
“Once this was completed the road was reopened.”
Update:
The seven people arrested were released on bail, a Guernsey Police spokesperson said on Monday morning.
Eye witness reports from the scene on Saturday morning said one of those people had been rescued from the roof of the building during the incident.
