A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, following an incident along St George’s Esplanade that damaged at least three parked vehicles.
The incident is understood to have occurred sometime on Sunday evening.
A Guernsey Police spokesperson said an investigation is ongoing.
“This morning Guernsey Police arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving, following an incident on St George’s Esplanade on the evening of Sunday 1 February,” they said.
“The man is believed to have hit three parked vehicles while driving another vehicle, causing significant damage. He is then believed to have left the scene of the accident.
“The road was closed yesterday evening while officers undertook initial enquiries. The investigation is now ongoing.”
Photographs shared with Express at 20:00 on Sunday night show parked cars and vans had suffered extensive damage to their bumpers and side panels.
The Joint Emergency Services Control Centre announced that St George’s Esplanade was closing to all motorists, between Salarie Corner and the Longstore, just after 20:30.
Guernsey Police officers were seen inspecting the scene and the damage at this time.
The road reopened just after 21:00.
The damaged vehicles were still parked along St George’s Esplanade on Monday morning.
