Guernsey’s Street Reach team will be able to make an even more visible impact after hours after being kitted out with new reflective jackets.

The team are responsible for engaging with young people they meet out and about, and offering them the opportunity to engage in creative activities and conversation.

The team also signpost young people to further support or direct them to a youth club setting, such as their new youth club on wheels ‘The Bus Stop’.

They also work with local shops and police to help resolve any conflicts.

Such work takes them around the clock – but now they’ll be even better prepared for late nights thanks to the new high-vis jackets provided by Mourant.

Mourant Managing Partner John Lewis lauded the Street Reach team for the “extremely valuable” work that they do “in providing safe, supportive spaces for the younger generation”.

“We’re honoured to help make their outreach team more visible during the evening, and to play a part in supporting such meaningful, community-driven work,” he added.

Hayley Winter, Youth Engagement Team Lead at the Youth Commission expressed her thanks to Mourant for their support.

“Their sponsorship of our jackets has helped us strengthen our ability to reach out to young people, as well as work alongside local businesses and the police, to build a more connected community,” she said.
