Express understands that at least one States member has contacted Law Enforcement authorities asking for the matter to investigated.

The ESC Committee has been under-fire in the last week over an email sent by Deputy Fallaize to the Committee’s then Chief Secretary, after a local candidate was successful for a role that had been created specifically with a preferred off-island candidate in mind.

The successful candidate then withdrew after originally accepting the job and the HR advisor told the Guernsey Press that they resigned after being asked to make a false declaration that there were no suitable on-island candidates when applying for a long term employment permit.

However, Bailiwick Law Enforcement has said that there is no investigation underway.

“No investigation into this matter is being undertaken,” a spokesman said. “If there’s a legitimate referral appropriate action will be taken.”

The spokesman did not answer whether Guernsey Police had received any requests from States Deputies to investigate this matter.
