The application seeks to change the use of a field at La Hougue Farm into a facility for dogs.
In a letter published online alongside the planning application, the architect responsible for the plans – Steve de Vial – said: “Ideally this business will operate 5 days a week between 9am and 5pm throughout the year, with maybe slightly shorter days in the winter months. For the record the use of floodlights or any other lighting is not considered a requirement.”
“My client would offer 30 to 60 minute appointments, with up to 3 dogs from same household only.
“Each patron would park in the stable complex and walk for a 5 minute duration to access the area, via Rue de La Hougue and through the more easterly road field gate. All dogs would be on a leash on the property except within the dog secure field.”
The application suggests that there is demand for this facility in Guernsey.
“My client posted on a Facebook Dog forum, for Guernsey, questioning whether there was a demand for this facility locally. She received numerous instantaneous ‘hits’ demonstrating a definite yes.”
