The Mallard site could soon have houses built on it, if a planning application for 85 new properties is approved.
Submitted by the Guernsey Housing Association and Infinity Construction, it’s the second public/private partnership the two have worked on.
The plans include a mixed design with 69 affordable homes to be managed by the GHA being built alongside 16 private residences.

Outline permission was granted in December and both parties are confident they’ll be able to start work soon.
“Submitting the planning application is the first step towards providing much-needed new homes for the island, and we’re really pleased to be working in partnership with Infinity Construction again,” said Vic Slade, the Chief Executive of the GHA.
“By working together, we can provide a mix of both affordable and private homes, which means we can tackle housing needs across different tenures, rather than just one or the other. This is an important step as it’s the first of the various approvals we need to take the project forward.”

Paul Nobes, the Managing Director of Infinity Group, added: “Getting to this stage has taken a huge amount of collaboration and expertise from everyone involved.
“I’d like to thank the Infinity Group team, Cheila and Andrew from Lovell Ozanne, and the Mallard representatives for the work they’ve put into shaping the scheme.
“We’re excited to continue working with GHA to deliver high-quality new homes for the island.”

The planned housing development is around the existing building housing the Mallard cinema and business centre.
