Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the accident to come forward to assist their inquiries.
The accident happened at about 15:40 near Melodonia in Route de la Charruée in the Castel.
Police Sergeant Donnelly said: “A small red car with ‘L’ plates is understood to have collided with a silver Toyota Yaris, causing extensive damage to the Yaris.
“Thankfully no one was injured but the driver of the small red car did not stop and made off from the scene.
“It’s likely there is noticeable damage to the front of the small red car.”
