Guernsey Police’s special operations for the World Cup have successfully kept islanders safe, officers say.

‘Operation Circle’, the force’s drink and drive campaign, has stopped 132 vehicles and made 6 drink-drive arrests.

Their more general operation – ‘Operation Caribou; – which deals with drunk and disorderly, and anti-social behaviour has also “continued with high visibility patrols” around Guernsey and will continue to do so as England progress through the tournament,.

The Police also praised islanders for their “excellent cooperation”, and for the help they’ve had from local businesses to ensure that the public remain as safe as possible.

They also acknowledge the “sad fact that domestic abuse spikes across the UK” during football tournaments.

Officers said they have been working with partner organisations who will support anyone who needs it.
