The work is being done as part of an “ambitious project” to develop an expanded Creaseys department store, that’ll encompass 15-19 on the High Street and number 13.
The cranes have been lifting steel beams into position to secure the High Street facade of number 13 while the rest of the building is knocked down.
A number of scaffold beams are also being put into position to create a canopy over the building site.
“We have worked together with Creasey’s to ensure that we can keep public inconvenience to the absolute minimum throughout the project, and this has included delaying scaffolding until after the Island Games and also completely wrapping the building to contain the works as much as possible,” said Managing Director of Rihoy & Son, Dan Taylor.
“However, the constraints of the site mean that we do have to use the seafront side for the delivery of anything significant.”
The project is expected to take three years to complete.
