Residents of a six-storey residential building on Green Street have been evacuated due to a kitchen fire in one of the flats.
Firefighters are dealing with the incident at Edinburgh House in St Helier after responding to an emergency call at 12.38pm.
Four pumps and an aerial ladder platform – which is a vehicle is designed to disperse water onto buildings from above during incidents where it may be difficult to do so from the ground – are on the scene.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have got the incident under control.
One person is being treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
Roads remain open around the area, but the building is still closed to residents.
