Ben Wadley made his debut for Manchester-based wrestling promotion organisation Sovereign Pro in November.

He had previously made his UK debut in 2019.

He started training at the Revolution Prowrestling Portsmouth School of Wrestling in 2018 so he could follow his childhood dreams. At the time he told Express that he and his brother had been fans of WWF and he had been in awe of larger than life characters like The Rock, Steve Austin and Savio Vega.

Now he is living in Manchester and his debut pro-fight saw 500 fans gather to watch.

Competing as Benjamin Black he clearly enjoyed the experience and he has said it was his 2022 highlight.

“The highlight for 2022 for me was debuting for Sovereign Pro Wrestling in Manchester in front of 500 fans and also having the music producer of AEW (All Elite Wrestling) create custom entrance music for me,” he said.

AEW is the second largest wrestling promotion organisation in the world suggesting Mr Wadley is making progress in his wrestling career. He told Express he will be continue to push forward in his chosen sport this year too.

“My aims for 2023 are to continue getting my name out there as an established talent and keep working shows throughout the UK for RevPro Wrestling and Sovereign Pro Wrestling.”

He has also encouraged other people to focus on their dreams and to pursue their hobbies as far as they can. He said wrestling in particular can be a difficult career to pursue but he offered advice to other fans of the sport.

“For anyone else following their dreams: just keep going,” he said.

“It’s a very difficult industry to get into and even when you do it’s hard to stand out against the thousands of wrestlers out there. Expect a lot of gruelling training, frequent injuries, pain, missing social/family events and having to do plenty of unpaid work.

“You have to be willing to make these sacrifices for your passion.”
