Three hugely popular bars and restaurants in St Peter Port have changed hands.

The Big Red Group Ltd, which owns Red cocktail bar and restaurant, Rosso pizza restaurant, and Tinto tapas bar, has been bought by Randalls.

The new owner said it is looking forward to “a positive future together and to continuing to serve locals and visitors alike with the same passion and quality they expect”.

“We very much look forward to working with the talented people behind Red, Rosso, and Tinto,” said a spokesperson for RW Randall Ltd.

“These restaurants are already thriving, and our focus is on continuity, stability, and protecting what customers love about them.”

The three eateries will be managed as part of a wider portfolio of local hospitality businesses which includes the Slaughterhouse and Prince of Wales in town, La Reunion and the Rockmount on the west coast, the Imperial at Pleinmont, and the Farmhouse in St Saviours.

Randalls itself is owned by CI Hospitality Limited.

The local investment consortium owned by Ravenscroft Capital, bought RW Randall Ltd in March 2025 taking on dozens of its tenanted pubs and shops as well as its managed portfolio.

Earlier this month, CI Hospitality also announced it would take on three restaurants in Jersey under the JPRRestaurants banner – Banjo, Oyster Box and Jersey Crab Shack.

Express revealed that the Red group was also on the ‘wish list’ with the Guernsey Competition & Regulatory Authority opening an acquisition case on the proposed purchase in December.

Members of the public could comment on the purchase plans before Christmas.

The three Big Red businesses are all in the Pollet area of St Peter Port. They used to be owned by Dave Matheson – known to his friends as Red.

Mr Matheson retained ownership of Rouge Wine and Cheese bar, also in the Pollet, when he sold the rest of his ‘red businesses’.

Mr Matheson also owns and runs Alba in the Market. He previously owned Laskas – now known as Mojito – at the Albany before selling that to the Liberation Group in 2010.

Randalls said buying Red, Rosso, and Tinto is “an exciting step” for its business.

“Red, Rosso, and Tinto have built outstanding reputations for drink, food and service, and Randalls is committed to preserving what makes each restaurant unique, while supporting the existing teams who have contributed so strongly to their success.”
