Tens of thousands of pounds are donated to the Guernsey branch of the RBL each year – much through poppy sales during November, but also through other donations and fundraising.
Major Bob Place has been involved with the charity since his own military career came to an end.
His work continued as a reservist once he had left the services full time. He has been involved with arranging the military parades in Guernsey for Remembrance Sunday, Armistice Day, Liberation Day, and other events since returning to the island.
Remembrance Sunday will be observed this weekend, 14 November.
A two minute silence will be observed at 11:00 with the canon fired from Castle Cornet to mark the beginning and end of it.
Wreaths will be laid at the war memorial at the top of Smith Street, led by the Bailiff and Lieutenant Governor.
