A new guide booklet has been published for the increasing number of visitors travelling to the island from France.
The French-language guide to St Peter Port is intended to help them explore Guernsey’s town once they arrive via the Brittany Ferries sailing in the morning.
Available from the Visitor Information Centre in the Market, the booklet highlights town’s key attractions, and things to see and do. There is a digital version of the guide too.
VisitGuernsey said “simple steps such as these” help to “create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for our French guests, supporting both visitor satisfaction and the wider tourism economy”.
There has been an increasing number of French visitors travelling to Guernsey since Brittany Ferries introduced its new timetable last year.
Arriving from St Malo into St Peter Port at 09:15 and returning at 18:30, the sailings allow visitors from the continent to enjoy a day trip in Guernsey.
Last year, 28,029 people visited Guernsey from France – accounting for 10% of all people travelling to or from the island during 2025. That was up from 6% or 16,561 people in 2024.
Among the businesses also rolling out the red carpet for French visitors are JB Parkers and Hook.
Both restaurants have introduced a French version of their à la carte menu.
VisitGuernsey says this makes it easier for French-speaking guests to engage with and enjoy their offering.
“As we continue to increase marketing activity in France – aligned with the Brittany Ferries service – we encourage businesses across the sector to consider how they might adapt their own products and services,” the marketing body said in its recent Trade Mailer..
“Providing information in French is a simple but effective way to improve the visitor experience and better cater to this important audience.”
