These flags, which are the responsibility of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture, will be replaced in May.
“Replacing the flags at this time keeps them nicer for longer as most of the wear on the flags occurs during the storms in the winter/shoulder months,” said the Head of Marketing and Events, Culture & Sport, Nikki Symons.

Pictured: “We [repair them] where we can over the winter/shoulder months before they are replaced for the new season,” said Mrs Symons.
Concerns were raised on social media that the flags were looking worse for wear and a rumour was shared that the States had allegedly decided to spend the money on the Queen’s Jubilee instead.
This is not true.
“[The flags] will be replaced this year and the budget for the replacement flags is not being used for the Jubilee,” said Mrs Symons.
The replacement of the roundabout flags is supported through a legacy fund from a private individual.
“Requests are sent in for other flags to be flown to mark special occasions, anniversaries, historic events and more,” said Mrs Symons.
“These are considered by the States and the Bailiff’s office.”
