Rue à L’Or has been permanently designated as a ‘prohibited street’ following a one-year trial of the restrictions.
The trial period has been “positive” according to Traffic & Highway Services, and had succeeded in reducing the number of vehicles using the narrow and winding road.
Prior to the trial, which commenced in May last year, THS had received a number complaints about “large vehicles and cars entering the lane at speed from Le Vauquiedor as a shortcut to Kings Road.”

A spokesman said the changes had made Rue à L’Or safer for pedestrians and cyclists.
“There is evidence that some drivers are still either unaware of the prohibition or are ignoring it and therefore Traffic and Highway Services will be considering whether further measures, such as additional/altered signage and road markings, are required to provide greater clarity.”
