The Epic Moonlight Marathon also offers shorter distances with runners tackling different routes of between 5km and 13.1miles.

100 runners have signed up for the third moonlight marathon arranged by Warren Mauger and Philip Smith as part of their ongoing Epic Challenges fundraising efforts.

Sponsored by FCG, all money raised will go to the Guernsey-based charity, This is EPIC, which aims to empower people in poverty to enable them to improve their lives through saving schemes and loan projects.

Those taking on the moonlight marathon will start from Octopus restaurant at Havelet Bay at 02:00 before meeting the half marathon runners at Cobo at around 04:00. They will then run together towards the Mallard where they will meet the runners taking on the five mile challenge at around 05:30.

Those running five kilometre will meet the longer distance runners at the Trelade Hotel at around 06:00 before the whole group run to town together, finishing at Octopus for breakfast at 07:00.

The Epic pair behind the fundraising challenge are both involved again this year. Philip Smith is unable to run due to injury so will be “ensuring the runners are safe and watered”, while Warren Mauger will “keep the party bus atmosphere going on the run”.
