Sark School’s headteacher has been temporarily suspended while an investigation takes place, the island’s government has confirmed.

Michelle Brady was relieved of her duties last week, with Simon Smith taking over in the interim, Chief Pleas confirmed to Express.

A spokesperson said: “As an investigation is ongoing, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.

“[A] temporary suspension while an investigation is undertaken is standard practice and does not imply a finding of wrongdoing.”

The news comes after Mrs Brady’s son, Jacob Brady (23), was sentenced to over four years in jail, last week, for a series of of child sex offences.

Express learned of the suspension on Saturday, one day after Mrs Brady published the school’s newsletter as normal.

However, Chief Pleas initially declined to confirm the suspension, saying it “does not comment on individual staff members”.

Guernsey Police declined to comment, when approached by Express.
