The problem was noticed yesterday, with staff opening the airport terminal earlier than usual this morning to try and keep the queues under control.
Guernsey Airport posted a message warning passengers due to travel that they “should allow plenty of time to check in, and go through security. The terminal is open from 05:45 as our hold baggage X-Ray machine is suffering from technical problems.
“We are working as quickly as possible to get it back up and running.”
Aurigny posted a similar message online confirming airline staff would also be at work earlier than usual, again advising passengers to allow plenty of time.
A similar problem occurred in September, which took some days to fix as engineers had to fly over from the UK and order in spare parts.
Last week Guernsey Airport announced plans to revamp the security area and duty free shops, through a partnership with Randalls.
A spokesman said a new security machine is due to be fitted in the first half of 2019 as part of those plans.
