Alderney’s politicians could get a pay rise.
They are currently paid a standard rate of £12,240 each per year with additional allowances for those elected to take on leadership roles.
This includes the Chair of the Policy and Finance Committee, General Services Committee, Building and Development Control Committee, and Economic Development Committee, who are each paid an extra £2,160 per year.
This wage, and the additional allowances, could now change after P&F decided it was time for another independent review after the last was carried out in 2008.
P&F said the review will assess whether the basic pay and allowances “is still appropriate and relevant and determine whether the current levels fairly and properly reflect the nature of the roles”.
A public consultation is being held as part of the review with comments welcomed HERE.
The final report will make recommendations to the States of Alderney on the level of renumeration going forward.
P&F said it is keen to receive as many comments and feedback from the community as possible as part of this review.

There are ten members of the States of Alderney. They serve four year terms – with half of them elected every two years.
Two of Alderney’s politicians are elected to serve in Guernsey too and they are paid an additional £15,745 per year from the States of Guernsey with a higher wage if they are elected as a committee President.
