Year 7 and Year 9 students from Le Murier School have been busy fundraising for the GSPCSA.

To thank them for raising the vital funds to support the charity’s work with animals as part of their recent Enterprise Week, the students were invited to go for a tour of the animal shelter.

Hosted by GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne, the tour gave the students a unique behind‑the‑scenes insight into the work of the charity, as well as the opportunity to learn more about the GSPCA’s history and its plans for the future.

They also gave Mr Byrne a cheque for the money they had raised.

During the tour, the students enjoyed seeing a wide range of animals and activities across the shelter, said Mr Byrne.

From a stray tortoise to the many rabbits, a stray budgie to the ferrets, dogs being walked by volunteers, and volunteers laying a new path, the group were given a full overview of the day‑to‑day work carried out at the shelter. The visit took place on a lovely sunny day, making it an even more memorable experience for everyone involved, they said.

Mr Byrne said he was pleased to receive a cheque for an “impressive £196 raised by the students”.

“We are incredibly grateful to the students from Le Murier School for their fantastic fundraising efforts during Enterprise Week. It was a pleasure to show them around the shelter, explain what we do and see their enthusiasm for animal welfare. Every donation helps us continue caring for animals in need, and their support is truly appreciated.

“The GSPCA would like to thank the students and staff at Le Murier School for their support and for choosing the charity as part of their Enterprise Week activities.
