A woman who was found dead in Alderney on Monday morning after a suspected murder has been named by Guernsey Police.
She was Hannah Benfield (34) nee Cox.
A police spokesperson said: “The family has also asked that people respect their privacy as they take time to come to terms with what has happened.
“Guernsey Police would again like to express its condolences to the family and to anyone else affected by this incident.
“Alderney is a small, close-knit community, and the impact of an incident of this nature on a community like that cannot be overstated.”
Guernsey Police said specialist family liaison officers had been working closely with Hannah’s family, who agreed to release her identity and a photograph of her.
A 44-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder and remains in Police custody.
