Guernsey’s hospital is back to normal after a ‘critical incident’ was declared earlier this week, leading to some operations being put off.
The Princess Elizabeth Hospital had declared the incident during a period of unexpectedly-high demand, which it said was not down to a single cause.
A spokesperson said all the hospital’s emergency and cancer surgeries went ahead as planned, but three elective procedures had been “unavoidably postponed”.
Elaine Burgess, Director of Care Delivery, thanked the hospital’s dedicated staff who she said “performed exceptionally well” during the “especially challenging” period.
“An escalation plan is in place for the weekend should any further capacity issues arise, but we are hopeful that it will not be needed,” she added.
The spokesperson said the situation was being “closely monitored”.
