The emergency service was first called to Fat Rascal restaurant in town – the second time in just over a month there has been a fire at the property on Lefebvre Street, St Peter Port.

On that first occasion, 16 March, a pizza oven caused the alarm to go off and the restaurant soon reopened. This time, the Fire and Rescue Service was called out shortly before 16:30 on 18 April. Again the fire was soon put out and no injuries were reported.

The crew were stood down a couple of hours later after making the area safe, but in the meantime there had been a 999 call regarding a fire at Les Genats Estate, Castel.

That incident was described as a “small fire at a property” within the estate. The fire was out by 18:41 and no one was injured. The fire crew remained on the scene to ensure the area was safe before being stood down.

Neither fire is being treated as suspicious by Emergency Services at this time.
