Work to put in two new pavements in St Martin’s cost the island around £65,000.
The new pedestrian walkways were added along Old Mill Road and Les Camps du Moulin recently.
Someone asked, through a Freedom of Information request, how much they had cost tax payers.
Traffic and Highway Services said one cost around £30k and one around £35k.
“The final invoices have not been received so exact costs cannot be given at this time, but the work is expected to cost in the region of £30,000 for the footpath in Old Mill Road and £35,000 for the footpath in Les Camps du Moulin,” a THS spokesperson said.
THS said the work was done in the interest of public safety, and to fit in with the island’s wider transport strategy which prioritises the most vulnerable road users.
“Improving safety for pedestrians, as one of the more vulnerable road users, is one of the key aims of the approved Integrated Transport Strategy,” THS said.
“It is also in line with one of the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure’s top priorities which is to provide safe, healthy and efficient travel options near and around schools.”
