Oliver Brock found a nesting Robin inside the front fairing of his 2017 Kawasaki Versus 650 SE on 1 May, when he went to ride his bike to work.

He said he had used it just a day previously so he was caught by surprise when he saw the Robin with an egg.

Rather than disturbing the bird and nest he decided to leave them in peace and has since been making his way around the island without the use of his motorbike.

As he watched the bird from a distance, he became intrigued by the nesting process, and said it was “obvious what had to be done”. That thought process led to the idea of setting up a webcam to follow the bird and eggs without getting too close.

Some initial videos were prerecorded and shared online, before that evolved into a livestream set up by Morgan Brock which can still be watched via Mr Brock’s website corbeau.gg

The first egg hatched last week – with three more following soon after.

The hatching were caught on camera and have been shared with an audience on the Guernsey Wildlife Facebook group.

The story has been shared even further afield by the Kawasaki UK Facebook page.

The livestream has been running for up to seven hours a day with recent streams catching the parent birds removing waste from the nest and returning with food for the chicks.
