“Over the weekend, we visited several beaches, knowing that it was the ideal conditions for spotting bioluminescence,” he said. “We finally spotted some tiny glowing specks as we walked down Port Grat Beach towards the sea.
“Suddenly the whole beach came alive with sparks of light at our feet, it felt a bit like finding buried treasure.”

Elliott was kind enough to tag Express in his latest photos and videos, captured earlier this week, which he had shared on Facebook (below).
He has also used his own website to share his tips on how to see the magical spectacle for yourself.
This includes checking the tide times, and choosing a day when the sea has been relatively calm. Elliott has also included advice on footwear to ensure you can experience the phenomenon safely.
Elliott told Express that he felt very lucky to capture his images, which he managed to do after a few attempts of looking for the bioluminescence.
“I’d come prepared with a camera and tripod, we waded into the shallow waters at low tide to try and capture some images of it,” he explained.
As far as I’m aware, this phenomenon hasn’t been well-documented in photographs in Guernsey before, so I felt it was something important to capture.”

As a professional photographer, Elliott has his own website which he used to share his tips for capturing images of bioluminescence.
He says a camera with manual settings to control exposure time and aperture will deliver the best results.
He also says “tripods are a must for long-exposure shots” but most importantly he says: “don’t forget to enjoy the moment; sometimes the best memories are the ones that aren’t captured but simply experienced”.
