Over the weekend, just 16 of the 77 identified cases were from unknown sources, with the rest discovered through contact tracing. Dr Nicola Brink said this was an encouraging trend and an indication that cases may be beginning to “plateau out”. It is important, she stressed, that this does not lead to complacency.
With one patient in the Intensive Care Unit, Medical Director Dr Peter Rabey said the hospital is able to re-open the day patient unit as an overflow ICU at short notice if necessary.
HSC President Al Brouard said that more than 8,400 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine against Covid-19, with many vulnerable islanders receiving both doses.
