47-year-old Edward John Blampied – the artist behind the well-known mural at the Hungry Man café in Rozel – was charged with three counts of making indecent images.
One charge related to images in ‘category A’, the most serious, one ‘category B’ and one ‘category C’.
The Royal Court heard today that he was found with 568 indecent images in total.
Blampied appeared in the Magistrate’s Court in February and was remanded in custody ahead of today’s sentencing.
The Royal Court took into account his period in custody, sentencing him to a total of 312 hours of community service this morning.
He studied art at Southampton University and Winchester School of Art and is best known for his caricatures and cartoons. He has also illustrated local children’s books and in 2019 created his own children’s book titled The Motor Mice Go to St Ouen.
The Deputy Bailiff was presiding.
