Disgraced Guernseyman Jonathan Le Tocq is due to be sentenced by the island’s Royal Court today for numerous offences including making and distributing indecent images of children.

The former politician and religious leader was once one of the island’s most respected individuals – amassing more than 8,000 votes in the June 2025 island wide election, with 40% of voters putting their trust in him.

Just weeks after securing a sixth term in office in the States of Guernsey the pastor was arrested on suspicion of telecommunications offences, before being charged with a number of offences in August last year.

Le Tocq was later charged with more offences before pleading guilty to a total of 15 counts in December.

The disgraced politician and pastor has admitted:

  • Seven counts of sending by means of telecoms network an indecent message
  • Making a pseudo-indecent image of a child – Minimum of 230 images, Category A

His sentence will be decided by Judge Catherine Fooks and a panel of Jurats.

They will determine his sentence after hearing from the Law Officers of the Crown – the prosecution – and Le Tocq’s defence Advocate, who is expected to be Claire Tee who has previously represented him.

BACKGROUND

Le Tocq was first arrested in July 2025 on suspicion of telecommunication offences.

He was initially released on police bail while those investigations continued. He spent the following month in France, where he owns a second home.

Le Tocq reported to Guernsey Police station on 22 August 2025 where he was presented with evidence that had been gathered through searching his electronic devices. He was then charged with numerous telecommunication and sexual offences.

He appeared in court for the first time that afternoon, where he was remanded into custody.

Le Tocq reappeared in the Magistrate’s Court in October to be remanded into custody for longer so police enquiries could continue.

He was charged with more offences and saw his case elevated to the Royal Court – which has a higher sentencing power than the Magistrate’s Court – in November.

Le Tocq first admitted his guilt at a ‘plea and directions hearing’ in the Royal Court in early December 2025.

His sentencing date was then set for 26 January.
