Flight BE6300 landed at Jersey Airport around 07:46 after a heating element failure led the cracks to appear.
Officials later said that the aircraft – an ATR 72 – landed “safely and without incident”. However, emergency services were called as part of “standard procedure.”
Passengers then disembarked the plane, before being transferred to a “back-up aircraft” to continue their journey. That flight took off at 08:50.
“The safety of passengers, crew and aircraft is Blue Islands’ highest priority and we apologise for the inconvenience experienced. While there are some small subsequent delays, passengers should continue to check in as normal,” a spokesperson said.
