The Aurigny flight to Gatwick landed safely, with no reported injuries.

Guernsey Airport said the incident happened shortly before 09:00 ‘following a report received from a departing ATR aircraft’.

The airport’s emergency plan was activated when the Aurigny aircraft reported a ‘technical problem’ which meant the Airport Fire Service were there when the plane returned.

Ash Nicholas, the Head of Aviation Services for Guernsey Ports said:

“As a result of this report airport services were placed on standby.

“The aircraft landed safely at 08:56 and taxied to stand. There are no reported injuries and the aircraft is being checked.

“No external agencies were required to attend in support of the airports response.”

Aurigny apologised to its passengers for the inconvenience, but confirmed those on the affected flight  left within two hours of their scheduled departure time.
