Friday is ‘National Heat Awareness Day’ (perfect timing!), but which stories sent your temperatures soaring this week and which left you cold?

From a record-breaking heatwave to an electricity company’s unpaid bill, here are the stories getting you hot under the collar.

1. Sex offender asks to rejoin community

A man who sexually assaulted a woman while he was driving an unlicensed taxi could be reintegrated into the community, as part of his rehabilitation.

However more work was needed on the plan before the Royal Court can decide whether it’s the right way forward.

2. Second bike crash at Halfway in a month

A van and bike collided at the Halfway, near St Peter Port, on Sunday evening – though neither the driver nor cyclist were seriously injured.

It’s the second time in less than a month a bike has been involved in a collision at the filter.

3. Hounds hate heatwaves

Summer’s here, the sun’s out and many islanders are enjoying sizzling in the sunshine.

But islanders are being warned to protect their pooches during the hot spell, with a viral video showing a pup being exercised in hot weather.

4. Hospit-full

Guernsey’s hospital was full up earlier this week, with operations having to be cancelled as a result.

A critical incident was declared at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, but the spike wasn’t down to the heatwave, officials said.

5. £180k unpaid electric bill

Electricity companies are used to dealing with unpaid bills, but normally it’s them chasing a customer.

However Sark Electricity is being sued by its own lawyers over an unpaid bill for £180,000 – something the power firm’s owner disputes.
