Two “young people” have been arrested after a fire in one of the derelict buildings in Leale’s Yard.
Guernsey Police said the pair were arrested this evening in relation to the fire.
Officers are now investigating the blaze and have asked for anyone with any information to contact the police station on 222 222.
The emergency services were called to Leale’s Yard just after 17:00 with the access roads off the Bridge leading to the former industrial area cordoned off while Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service tackled the fire.
A fire engine could be seen parked in Leale’s Yard, down the access road between the Roll Bar and Hansens sandwich shop.
Residents in the area were asked to close their doors and windows while members of the public were asked to avoid the area.
The fire was out by 18:30 but police cordons remained in place afterwards as fire fighters continued working in the area.
