Gilberto De Sousa Fernandes appeared before Commissioner Sir William Bailhache – sitting with Jurats Charles Richard Blampied and Paul Nicolle – in the Royal Court on Friday.
He pleaded not guilty to one count of illegal entry and stealing $1,140 and €700 – the equivalent of more than £1,400 – on 16 November 2020.
He has been granted bail until 25 November, when he will appear in the Royal Court for a plea and directions hearing.
He will then appear again on 31 January for a three-day Assize Trial.
