States of Jersey Police are warning Islanders about a scam that has lost Islanders thousands of pounds.
In the last month, 75% of scam crime reports to the States of Jersey Police have involved Revolut accounts, losing Islanders thousands of pounds.
Most of the incidents have followed a similar pattern. A victim is firstly called by someone claiming to be from a bank’s fraud department, security team or Revolut support, victims are then told there has been suspicious activity on their account or they are at risk.
Following this, they are then persuaded to give sensitive information, transfer money or allow the scammer access to their account.
Offices have also noticed multiple instances where people’s accounts have been compromised, leading to financial loss.
Anyone who thinks they have been a victim of fraud is being urged by the police to contact the bank immediately and report the matter to the force.
