Jersey Arts Centre are celebrating their 40th birthday with Festival 40 this weekend.
Over the course of three days the Arts Centre will be hosting drama and music performances as well as screening films.
Tonight, complimentary champagne and birthday cake are on offer at 6pm before One of Those Streets drama performance at 7pm. Oddsocks return to perform Twelfth Night (Unplugged!) at 9pm.
On Saturday 21 January, family-friendly The Railway Children Return will be screened at 10am and Wayne Steward performs Chrome Yellow at 1pm. Emily Mae Winters will be singing at 3pm, Truth’s a Dog Must to Kennel will be performed at 5pm and Oddsock’s final performance is at 7pm.
On Sunday 22 January the Doric String Quartet will be accompanied by Brett Dean at 11am. The weekend will conclude with a concert from Retro Gramophone at 7pm.
Lunar New Year Festival
The opening ceremony of Jersey’s first Lunar New Year will take place on Sunday 22 January, with a performance from a local student choir, traditional Dragon and Lion dances, an Asian food market, and Cambodian dancing.
The ceremony will take place between 12 and 4pm at Central Market in St Helier.
The festival will continue until Saturday 5 February, with many more events lined up over the course of the next two weeks.

The first of a series of free talks by Jersey Heritage is taking place on Saturday 21 January at 10am.
The talk will discuss newly opened records at the Jersey Archives dating from up to 100 years ago. The new records give insight into life on the Island between the two World Wars.
Over the course of this year following talks will explore the history of local houses.
FLUX Exhibition
An exhibition of visuals created through photography, film and technology has been created by local artist Danny Evans.
FLUX is open to the public at ArtHouse Jersey at Capital House until Wednesday 25 January.
The artwork reimagines fashion works with a focus on sustainability, identity and accessibility.
Live Music at Chambers
Live music returns to Chambers tonight. Local band The Reasons will be on stage from 11:30pm.
Next Thursday and Friday will see band Ruby Rouge perform.
