Here’s what’s coming up…
Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum!
It’s that time again – the Jersey Amateur Dramatic Club is back this week with the first few performances of their annual pantomime. This year, it’s the classic tale of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Expect toe-tapping music, lots of fun and the usual corny jokes in this story which stays true to the original adventure fairytale as brave Jack who must save his Princess from the evil giant.
Directed by Debbie Taylor and performed at the Arts Centre until Sunday 19 January, there’s plenty of time to catch the cast in action.

Artistic difference
ArtHouse Jersey are welcoming the New Year with their first exhibition of 2025.
Three artists will be showcasing their work this Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 January as the first edition of the Collins-sponsored pop-up series.
Abstract painter and photographer Mick Humpage joins paper sculptor Kelly Jenner Swani and expressionist Emilie Knight, who paints with her hands and feet, each of whom will present their individual work and some collaborative pieces.
All artists use their medium to vividly explore their own experience of neurodiversity, or mindfulness.
Held at Greve de Lecq Barracks, the exhibition will be open from 10:00 until 17:00 on both days.
New Year, new repairs

If you’ve broken some of your Christmas prezzies already, then why not bring them along to the next session of the Jersey Repair Cafe in Grouville?
Accepting anything from electricals to furniture, jewellery and clothes, the experts will be on hand to fix anything to save it from going in the bin.
Taking place at Grouville’s Parish Hall from 09:30 until 13:00 this Saturday 11 January, the latest café will also involve entertainment from local musicians and refreshments provided.
Celebrate a centenary
Celebrate what would have been Gerald Durrell’s 100th birthday this weekend at the Zoo he founded over 65 years ago.
The special anniversary for the famed conservationist is being marked with a book signing by Gerald’s wife, Lee Durrell, this weekend at Jersey Zoo.
On Sunday 12 January from 11:00 until 13:00, Lee will sign copies of Gerald’s memoir ‘Myself and Other Animals’ at the zoo gift shop.

Winter Wassail
Visit Hamptonne this weekend to get involved in an ancient English tradition that celebrates the harvest and wishes for another year of bountiful produce.
‘Wassail‘ comes from the Saxon, ‘Waes Hael’, which means ‘Good Health’. It was a toast commonly associated with the new year.
Expect to get involved in dancing with the Jersey Lilies and Jersey Heritage members will also get the chance to enjoy a cosy gathering with bread, cheese and warm local cider.
Participants are also asked to bring along noisemakers, like pots, pans and whistles to set the folklore atmosphere.
The Winter Wassail takes place from 13:00 until 15:00 on Saturday 11 January.
