British Airways business class passengers flying to and from Jersey from tomorrow will no longer be served a hot breakfast.

The airline announced that it will be axing its full-English breakfast service for business-class passengers from Wednesday 7 January on eight of its short-haul flights – including Jersey routes.

According to The Times, Club Europe passengers will only receive a continental offering –containing a fruit plate, yoghurt and a pastry – on morning flights.

Passengers flying in economy class will continue to be served a bottle of water and a snack free of charge.

The other routes affected by the business-class brekkie bust are Amsterdam, Belfast, Brussels, Paris, Dublin, Manchester, and Newcastle – which all have a flight time of about an hour from London.

British Airways trialled the new breakfast on its short-haul flights in September, which it says was “successful”. The airline claims that serving a continental breakfast only will allow crew to spend more time with customers.

Following the announcement, a spokesperson for British Airways told The Times: “Due to the limited time available on these journeys, serving and enjoying a hot breakfast has become challenging.

“To ensure a more comfortable experience, we’ll now offer a continental breakfast on these routes.

“Hot breakfast will continue to be available on the vast majority of our short-haul flights, as our crew has sufficient time to prepare and customers can enjoy their meal comfortably.”
