‘JSY007’ was the highest seller of the many interesting numbers up for sale in the annual auction run by Driver and Vehicle Standards (DVS), which this year generated more than £183,000 for the department.

The second highest sale was ‘JSY67’, which raised £9,000, while ‘JSY73’ raised £8,700.

More than 50 numbers deemed “desirable” went under the hammer, including 20 four-digits and several low ‘JSY’ registrations.

“This year’s auction was another great success, raising significant funds for the department. I’d like to thank everyone involved, particularly Simon Drieu & Co auctioneers and their staff, for ensuring that the event ran smoothly,” Gordon Forrest, Head of DVS, commented.

While the auction is over for another year, Mr Forrest added that for the keen few, there is another way.

“For anyone still wanting a special registration mark, we issue a number of four-digit J-numbers throughout the year. We also have 5- and 6-digit marks available, which are often popular as birthday plates,” he added.
