Sports coaching club Sports Bug also got the bug and helped train up some of Pete’s colleagues at Goldmoney ready for the event. The club also provided the games equipment to take into the 16 schools and nurseries to get the “egg”cited children hopping about too and raising money for the Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation.
Speaking on the hop Pete said: “We’ve just come out of Samares Nursery, we were there a good hour, playing various games – egg and spoon, up and over and then we judged an easter bonnet contest.”
We’ve got over a thousand eggs to give out, so over a thousand children taking part. It’s good fun, we started the event three years ago with a running theme, covering 30 miles, but we were a bit constrained for time, so we’re spending more time with the kids now, playing various games.”
Grace Crocker was born in Jersey with hypo-plastic left heart syndrome and had open heart surgery at just five days old. Grace’s family had to move to Southampton for three months to be with her, but sadly Grace died aged just 11 weeks.
The family set up a charity to help others with sick children, giving financial and emotional assistance to them when they have to go away for treatment.
The last two bunny runs have already raised £6,750 for the charity and it looks like this year’s event will be the biggest fundraiser yet.
