Former heavyweight boxing champion Frank Bruno has spoken to Victoria College students about living with bipolar disorder, encouraging them to talk openly about mental health and seek support when they need it.
Visiting the Island just days after World Mental Health Day, he joined sixth-form students for a question-and-answer session about his experiences in and beyond the ring.
Mr Bruno reflected on challenges during and after his boxing career, with students asking about his personal experiences and the lessons he has learned throughout his life.
Headteacher Dr Gareth Hughes said the visit delivered a powerful message about the strength involved in asking for help.
“His honesty, resilience and willingness to share his experiences delivered a powerful message to our students,” he said.
“By speaking so openly about mental health, he encouraged young people to understand that seeking support is a sign of strength.”
