Some cats the JSPCA have are not suited to be indoor cats, but are unable to roam outdoors either, meaning it is often difficult to give them a home.
Catios or cat-proof gardens offer the ideal environment for these cats, leaving them safe from other cats and secure within their own home.

Ideas for cat-proofing gardens listed by the JSPCA include mesh fencing that curves towards the garden and turn peddles at the top of fences that prevent cats from climbing over.
The JSPCA said: “At the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter we are often looking for very specific homes for some of the cats in our care, but unfortunately not everyone can provide what is required for the specific cat’s needs.”

They added: “We would love to find people who are looking to adopt a cat and who have a Catio or a cat-proof garden, or who would be looking to get one soon.”
They are asking anyone who may have a home that fits the description to fill in an online form or in person at the Shelter.
