Advocate Mark Harris, the Deputy Viscount, opened an inquest into Mr Fowler’s death this morning. He heard that Mr Fowler was a single man and unemployed at the time of his death.
PC Glenn Cleave, the Assistant Police Coroner’s Officer, said that Police are still investigating the road traffic incident that led to Mr Fowler’s death. Inspector Sian Gidley is in charge of the inquiries.
The inquest was told that Police officials believed that, as Mr Fowler was travelling up La Pulente Hill, he didn’t make the bend and crashed into a granite wall on the side of the road. He was found dead at the scene of the accident at 09:22 on Sunday 24 June.
Police said they are not treating the circumstances of the accident as suspicious and have no objection to Mr Fowler’s body being released. Inquiries are still on going and a full report will be submitted at a later date.

Doctor Russell Delaney, a Home Office Registered Forensic Pathologist, carried out a post-mortem examination. He also carried out toxicological and histological analysis, of which the results are still pending.
Dr Delaney indicated a provisional cause of death as being chest injuries, pending the results of laboratory samples. He said there was no need to examine the body again.
The Deputy Viscount has now released Mr Fowler’s body so that funeral arrangements can be made.
